The Regie Announces Early Receipt of Tobacco Crops in the South to Support Farmers Affected by Israeli attacks

The President - Director General of the Lebanese Regie for Tobacco, Eng. Nassif Seklaoui, announced that, in light of the situation in the south and in line with its moral and social commitment to tobacco farmers, the Regie will begin receiving crops early, starting September 10, 2024, one and a half months ahead of the usual date. This decision, guided by Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri, aims to alleviate the burden of stockpiling on farmers and provide them with much-needed liquidity during these challenging times.

Sekaloui made this announcement following a meeting with Caretaker Minister of Finance Youssef Al-Khalil, alongside Regie’s Director of Tobacco Leaves Department Abdel Mawla Al-Mawla, and Head of Agriculture and Purchasing Department, Jaafar Al-Husseini. During the meeting, they briefed Minister Al-Khalil on the measures the Regie is taking to support farmers and mitigate the impact of the current crisis.
