On Saturday, the Director General of the Lebanese Regie for Tobacco, Eng. Nassif Seklaoui, accompanied by the Leaf Tobacco Manager, Engineer Abdel Mawla Al Mawla, conducted an inspection tour of the tobacco purchasing committees in the southern towns of Srifa, Siddiqin, Tibnine, and Bir Al Salasil. During the tour, Seklaoui provided guidance to ensure the smooth operation of the purchasing process, urging procurement experts to be mindful of the hardships farmers face in these challenging times.
Seklaoui noted the farmers’ satisfaction during his visit, as they expressed gratitude for the Regie’s efforts to expedite the crop purchasing process compared to previous years, as well as for the favorable prices being offered.
While at Tibnine, Sekaloui met with Deputy Ashraf Baydoun who also commended the Regie’s support for tobacco farmers. It is worth noting that the tobacco purchasing committees will continue their work over the weekend on both Saturday and Sunday.
